Plantation
Foods was one of the nine founding companies which formed SYSCO Corporation in 1970. When SYSCO incorporated, Plantation
Foods, primarily involved in retail frozen food, had 10
distribution centers covering the state of Florida.
Plantation began
consolidating warehouses in Miami and transitioning from retail
to institutional foodservice. In 1977, as institutional
foodservice momentum grew, Plantation SYSCO was opened in
Orlando. The Orlando operation grew rapidly and, in 1990, became
known as SYSCO Food Services of Central Florida, Inc.
By 1995, both the
Miami and Orlando operations had outgrown their facilities and
were among the first companies to split off business in SYSCO
Corporation’s new "foldout" strategy. The new
company, SYSCO Food Services – West Coast Florida, Inc., was
opened in January 1996 in Palmetto.
Ten years of explosive
growth has necessitated the addition of 100% more warehouse
space to our Palmetto facility. We are able to provide
"complete customer satisfaction" in our expanded
facility. Our
mission of “helping our customers succeed,” is what keeps us
tweaking our commitment to excellence and hiring the finest
professionals in all aspects of our operations.
Having our company located within our distribution area,
allows our employees to support the local economies as well.
